Joseph W. Maniaci Scholarship

Joe Maniaci

Joseph W. Maniaci, 54, a lifelong resident of Richmond, Michigan, died unexpectedly October 2, 2001, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. Mr. Maniaci was born January 17, 1947 in Mount Clemons, Michigan to Cologiro and Eva (Schue) Maniaci. He married Lydia Rapp in Richmond on July 29, 1967. Joe was an Animal Control Officer for Macomb County, member of the Richmond Fire Department, former mayor of the City of Richmond, member of the Richmond City Council, President of the Michigan Animal Control Officers Association and Vice President of the National Animal Control Association.

Joseph was elected to the NACA Board of Directors in May of 1995. He served as Vice President from June of 2000 until his death in office on October 2, 2001. On October 12, 2002, the NACA Board of Directors formally introduced the Joseph Maniaci Memorial Scholarship.

The Joseph Maniaci Memorial Scholarship is available for the National Animal Control and Humane Officer Academy Module A and Module B attendees, as a tribute to Joe's passion for ensuring animal control officers receive the training they need to perform their duties in a professional manner.

The NACA Scholarship Program is temporarily on hold pending reorganization. Please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience that this may have caused. This program is very important to NACA and we hope to have it available very soon. Again we apologize and thank you for your time and consideration.
